The people of Manchester's Ward 3 would be very well served by making former state Rep. Peter Sullivan their alderman.

A former Army National Guard member and three-term legislator, Sullivan is an independent thinker who believes that downtown residents and business owners deserve more active, responsive representation at city hall.

His top two priorities are "reforming the budget process and addressing public safety." He has some very good ideas for stopping wasteful city spending and making the city in general and downtown in particular safer places to live and work.

Sullivan, a Democrat, said that if elected he would hold monthly ward meetings to listen to his constituents. He believes that the people of Manchester have good ideas that are going unheard at city hall.

"We have 110,000 people in the city; there's no need for 30 or 40 people to have all the input," he said.

The voters of Ward 3 could use an alderman like Peter Sullivan. He'd be a big improvement over the seat's current occupant.
