8. Oh... that is very hard.
Because if it's based on anything real, especially if it's a personal experience, then it's hard to create a distance between yourself and the story (at least this has been my experience.) I'm not going to pry, but perhaps if you added in similar experiences of other people, you would then be able to defamiliarize it enough so that you can create that distance. That should help in picking proper viewpoint characters, etc.

I don't know your exact struggle, so please just take the above with a grain of salt.
