149. They succeeded in pulling off their own "Johnny B. Goode"...
...also known as "American Music"...a lot of songwriters have tried in vain to carve out their own Chuck Classic, but the Blasters nailed it.

Also, "Dark Night" at the beginning of "From Dusk Till Dawn" is pretty damned amazing..."Hot air hangs like a dead man" as Clooney and Tarantino peel out into the open mouth of Hell.

I'm gonna assume that if you like The Blasters, you also own THIS:



Dave reclaims his own "Long White Cadillac" (probably the greatest twang-stomper in Dwight Yoakam's entire catalog) and also performs The Blasters' "Look Out (It Must Be Love)," along with a medley of Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Mi" and Chuck Berry's "Promised Land." It was recorded live in Austin. It still holds up like one rocking mother, 11 years after its release date.
