Eek! A mouse in my house!

Okay, my story:

Getting ready to go on a 2 week vacation Down Under. Cleaning the house, discover much "evidence" of meeses. I must have disturbed their lair, because last night, one ran almost under my feet. So I peeled myself off the ceiling, and now I'm wondering what to do.

The last place I lived in, I had encounters with the much larger rodents (San Francisco is a port city, the rats are bigger than cocker spaniels here!) So since I'm a vegetarian hypocrite, I couldn't bring myself to use the glue traps against them, so I brought home a feline carnivore to take care of things. Kitty didn't do much else, except shed all over my lap and flay my epidermis clean off when she played with me, but she did eliminate my rat problem.

Unfortunately, kitty no longer lives with me. When my mom died last year, I left her with my father to distract him from his grief, and now they're so bonded, I couldn't possibly separate them. So now what???

Since I'm leaving tonight, I can't put out traps and let whatever ends up there stay in my house for a fortnight. I can't borrow a cat. So I cleaned within an inch of my life, hoping that the mouse will get hungry and leave. But what I'm really worried about is they'll turn my house into a party crib.

I don't loathe mice the way I hate rats, but they're vermin that spread disease, and I don't really need a dose of Cipro right now!
