48. They probably popped up because the owners got the hint that there are enough people
willing to ban smoking everywhere just so they can go out without it. All it took was a few other states to start doing it.

I'm one of those who hates cigarette smoke and would do whatever I can to avoid it, but I don't think that gives me the right to dictate what someone does with their own private business.

I'm surprised it took that long for that sort of thing to become common though. You'd think somebody would have noticed that there is a whole section of society who doesn't go out most of the time just because they're sick of breathing in smoke... and that section of society has just as much money as everyone else who would go to bars/clubs.
