A 37 year old friend has a low-paying temp job doing data entry. She has a two year old son and enough debt that they live with mom (who has a gambling problem and just drives her crazy in general) and stepfather. This job is set to end in about 30 days. The heads of her department would like to give her a permanent position but they have to get approval of the big bosses and crap like that. Well they have been talking to her about this full time position since about October but nothing has happened yet.
Ok, so there is a job opening at the accounting firm where I work. It is in our computer room and it is for someone to do client payrolls and install software and junk like that and it starts at about $11/hr (more than she is making now). I told my friend about it and she sent in her resume. She had an interview yesterday. Today she calls and tells me that if they offer it she won't take it. Because what if where she works now does get around to making a position for her and it would pay about $12/hr. And if they don't keep her, she has enough saved to make it for a month or so.
OH MY GOD!!!! I think she is nuts. I don't understand the way people think. Everyone is crazy but me.
Tell you what...the next time she calls to borrow money (she always pays it back), or complain about her living arrangements, I may have to say "I told you so" and lecture her for a while.
Thanks for letting me rant. :eyes:
