The first lie of evil is that there is no supernatural world, the claim in nothing after death can make many despair, and is actually part of the doctrine of selfishness in the cult Church of evil started in 1966.

Quite simply, the first lie of evil is broken, and that is done in part by songs like the above ones. From that logic, I do not see them on the side of evil, however like everyone they are not perfect and have struggles like everyone else.

But discernment is part of interpretation, and you may see it differently.

I would guess part of their struggle is having many people throw blanket accusations of them never being in the service of the better ways, a bit hypocritical considering we all have faults.
