39. You've uttered the unspeakable truth!
Monogamy itself would tremble at the thought of bisexuality. The bigotry of which you speak has many roots, and it's very real. Many gays (although it's unforgivable to say) are convinced of a "superior" choice, and think that those dabbling are obviously in denial. Lest we forget, there are plenty of man-hating dykes and gash-hating queens out there, along with the level headed folks who simply know what they want and accept it.

In all too many spheres of life, people define themselves by what they dislike than by what they like, and that's probably never going to change. The good news is that there are a lot of decent folks out there, and the nasties are self-defeating.

Then again, just as there are "good" aspects of bisexuality, there are also some not-so-pleasant ones: some folks just need to have everyone lust after them. (Sort of like this post: equal opportunity flame-bait.)

Bisexuality is real, programmed-in and as much a fact as either of the other two polarities. It's existence is seen as a threat to certain ideologues of both groups, and it's the gray area of life that terrifies so many in life; that's why there's religion. The narrow agendas of various groups always tyrannize those in the middle (or straddling the line) and this will be one of the future battlegrounds after homosexuality is more accepted.

With monogamy being one of the basic building-blocks of society, bisexuality is seen as a threat to many, and you can expect to see it be more of an issue in the future.

Remember the lessons of history: the oppressed, as soon as they gain a homeland of their own, start oppressing. The beat goes on, and there always seems to be a group to oppress, so it's all just variations on a theme.
