10. Canada is not fond of this idea
Touches a little too close to the sovereignty (or the lack thereof)nerve. I figured the moron in chief would play this card, though. The Loonie is still significantly lower than the Greenback.

Canada + US should do this only when both are threatened by the Euro. It's stupid for the Bush administration to try to artificially raise the Loonie and deflate the Greenback but that would put the US in competition with Canada.

It's better if the US and Canada work together and sell more volume to the euro. US-made good export through Canada to Europe when applicable to avoid tariffs. And vice versa for Canadian goods. Who cares if the euro is higher than the separate North American currencies -- we need the business transactions and they may buy US-made . Don't achieve the same objective with less work -- achieve it the slower, longer way because it generates productivity in the economy while it works to equalize the Loonie and Greenback in a decade or so.

When both the Loonie and Greenback are closer together, implement the North American common currency. Now's just not a good time to do adopt a common currency -- it'll produce economic stagnation in 4 or 5 years.

Canada and the US need to make full use of the separate entities of their currencies right now and use that to gain common economic momentum. Neither country is ready for it and we could end up screwing ourselves big time in terms of economic stagnation and no way out.
