1. Strange I have heard no mention of a heatwave in Europe.

We certainly don't get much "news" in America anymore.

Yesterday, it was mostly Lohan on CNN, Fox and MSNBC - main sources of news on cable until the 6 o'clock evening news on the major networks.

500 is a high number of deaths from heat. I'm sorry these people are suffering and dying. I don't know if they have the means to get cool and safe with air conditioners or have air conditioned buildings they can visit to escape the heat.
