Virginia Tech to "green" Washington DC

Good news.
They're planing to retrofit a number of government-owned buildings in Washington to make them far more energy efficient, whether "W" believes in global warming or not. Thank heavens there are people willing to tackle this effort, even without the contribution and support of the Misadministration. It's a disgrace that the federal government itself is not leading the way on this issue.

During the Clinton years, the federal government actively promoted efforts to make federal buildings more energy efficient. Vice President Al Gore was, I believe, greatly responsible for this effort. I've written articles for trade publications about improving energy efficiency in commercial and government buildings since 2000. So I've observed the striking difference between a federal policy of actively promoting energy efficiency, and one of nothing but minor lip-service.

Here's an article about the Virginia Tech effort:

There was a front-page article about this in the Washington Post today, but it's a pain to get into their website -- you have to get a password and sign in.
