What I have read seems little more than a recitation of how criminals have been thwarted by citizens using firearms. If that is "triumphalism," so be it. But I don't think people take great joy in someone getting shot. The point seems to be that the lawful use of firearms in self-defense goes on every day, far more than the gun-controllers would admit to. BTW, most use of firearms as described above is merely informing a criminal that a citizen is armed, or brandishing the gun, or firing the gun as a warning. The actual shooting of a criminal is far less common.

I'm also very weary of the kinds of vicious, day-to-day car-jackings, armed robberies, rapes, and home invasions (far, far more prevalent than "mass shootings"). We can expect to see more of these as the economy starts drawing flies. Self-defense is an honorable, sometimes heroic, never romantic action. Those who must resort to it should be quietly thanked and not ridiculed.
