4. Obama has so far proved to be pro-RKBA ...
He did sign into law a bill that allowed people with concealed carry permits to carry in national parks. Unfortunately, some in his administration have made comments which favor draconian gun control.

Obama could improve his chances of reelection (which if the economy improves are excellent) by pledging that he will not sign any bills that propose registering, banning or confiscating firearms into law. He could also call on the NRA to sit down at a table, one on one, and work with him to improve existing laws and their enforcement. If the NRA refused they would lose credibility.

Obama offered to meet with the leaders of Iran before his presidential election. Surely the NRA wouldn't be as challenging.

One third of households in the United States have firearms and this may be an extremely low estimate. The Republicans have been able to paint Democrats as favoring draconian gun control, bans and confiscations. They have successfully guaranteed the vote of a high percentage if not most of the 40 million firearm owners in our nation who often have a significant amount of money and time invested in their shooting hobby.

If Obama is not willing to try to pass another assault weapons ban and in fact doesn't oppose the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, why try to pander to the very liberal base of the Democratic Party, many of whom are already pissed off at him. He would gain far more votes by showing gun owners that he was not an evil "gun grabber" who had no respect for the Constitution which is what the NRA tries to paint him as.
