3. From Haaretz;
Border Police kill girl, 10, near Jenin
By Amos Harel

>snip

The girl and her aunt were traveling in a taxi, and according to army sources, the policemen shot at the taxi after it tried to circumvent one of these checkpoints. The sources said the policemen followed the standard procedure for arresting a suspect and aimed their fire at the taxi's wheels.

However, one of the bullets hit 10-year-old Akbar Zaid in the head, killing her. Another bullet wounded her aunt.

The policemen, meanwhile, continued to watch the target house, and when the suspects refused to come out, they stormed it and also used a bulldozer to knock it down. However, the wanted men had apparently slipped away before the policemen encircled the house, so the force left empty-handed in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Over the last two decades, there have been dozens of incidents in which Palestinians were killed or wounded when soldiers or policemen fired at the wheels of their cars.
