As far as the Patriot Act goes, it's all about how we shape the issue. If he lets his opponent portray him as weak on defense and lets him use the Patriot Act as an example, then it will be a problem. Michels tried that during the campaign and it didn't work. I think his vote will go down in history as a really heroic action and it will help him if he ever runs for president (we can only hope!)
