5. It was billed as a debate on the Iraq War
But at the last minute, the Republicans changed it into a general non-binding resolution in support of the so-called War on Terror. No amendments to the resolution were allowed. In a Congress that's scheduled to meet for just 94 legislative days this year, one of the shortest in history, they spent two days on this non-binding resolution. Good thing there's nothing else to be addressed in the country, huh? You know, like millions of cargo containers coming in through our ports without so much as a dog sniff?
