2. Why weren't sitting Dems pre-06 as effective as the GOP is now?
It infuriates me how this bunch refuses to engage the GOP or Bush's political machine - they seem afraid of this inevitable confrontation.

Sooner or later it must happen and the longer we wait the worse it will be. In the meantime, more lives are being lost daily and vast amounts of the nation's fortune are disappearing into offshore accounts.

If the GOP can do this from a minority position, then the Democratic party can certainly do more from a dominant one.
