suggests that his allegiance to the Constitution and the precedent of the law was stronger in the confirmation hearings than it's been in the adjudication of the law.

I've seen really good people put under a real lot of stress, and it can have effects on the body and mind that can't be shrugged off.

Maybe there's a conflict between what's good about him, and what the bad people are asking him to do.

Maybe he's been a bad boy, when he looks like what every mother wants a good boy to look like, and can't handle the idea of facing that reckoning.

I wish that if there really is to be some reckoning here it would be spiritual or moral, and not just a matter of getting caught.

But then, I gave up underestimating the amorality of this regime of ours a long time ago.
