18. Because people don't like scary things.
It's "safer" to believe we actually have a choice. I've only recently come to the conclusion we don't have a real choice.

I've likened politics to a shell game with a pick-pocket waiting in the wings. We concentrate on the shell game (Democratic and Republican politics). We're so afraid of getting fooled that we concentrate really hard on the shell game. We can't afford to lose! But the truth is it doesn't matter whether or not we lose. What most of us haven't figured out is the shell game means nothing. It's window dressing, a dog and pony show. It's nothing more than a distraction so the pick-pocket can move in and steal everything we own.

All this fixation on the right candidate, on getting voters registered, on writing Congress, on stopping voting fraud and voter suppression--all of this means nothing because the parties are both controlled by corporations. There isn't anyone to stick up for the little guy.
