15. If Gore does not get in this October, he might still be a force at the
convention. If enough states' ballots undertake petition drives and place his name in contention on their caucus/primary ballots, he could roll into Denver without lifting a finger, or the convention could turn to him as a consensus candidate in a brokered convention, not likely statistically but perhaps a notch more possible this cycle than in previous years.

It has to be an exciting time for Al Gore. He knows there are only a dozen people -- tops -- in both major parties (more likely it's 5 or 6) with any chance at all to be the in Oval Office in January 2009, and he's one of them.
