Pelosi is well liked in San Francisco by us regular folk too.

I was excited when she became Speaker, but I also didn't think she could end the war because she had to have the 1) votes to defund it or 2) votes to end it by veto proof margin.

The first only required a majority, but she didn't have a majority that would support a defense bill without money for the troops. The second requires a veto proof margin which isn't there, though she did have the guts to pass the thing.

So, she has done what she could and I think will keep trying as the opportunities arise, but one reason she was whip for a while is that she can count votes and her counting is telling her that it will not move --yet.
