... there's nothing wrong with them as people, IMHO - but there is a lot wrong with their thinking, and the way they have chosen to go about things.

They both seem to have adopted the "speak softly, but carry a big stick" philosophy - without realizing that every once in a while you have to actually wave that big stick in people's faces, and be prepared to swing it with all your might, if you want to be taken seriously by your enemies, as well as by your supporters.

I think we all realize that there is a very fine line that must be walked in these political times. We are headed into an election that will change the course of the nation. You don't want to distance the disillusioned GOP voters who want change - at the same time, you don't want to distance your own hard-core supporters.

Methinks they have both stepped too far away from that line to be meaningful to anyone.

But what do I know? I'm just one of millions of pissed-off citizens - and I'm not running for anything. And if I was, I'd be soundly trounced at the polls.
