The past Republican majorities in the House were like machines voting in unison.
Newt Gingrich used bribes and threats among Republican members to enforce party discipline.
The Democratic party has always been a different animal. (see my sig line) The mere fact that Democrats are more inclusive makes it difficult to get everyone to march in lockstep.
Hell, we can't even agree on when to hold our primaries.
