Former Bush Chief of Staff Card joins Fleishman

Former Bush White House Chief of Staff Andy Card has joined global public relations giant Fleishman-Hillard as a senior counselor.

Card will serve on Fleishman-Hillard’s international advisory board along with several other luminaries, including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), former Clinton White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta and former Secretary of Health and Human Services Louis Sullivan.

Card, who left his grueling White House job in April 2006 after years of working seven days a week, said he would offer clients “strategic advice.” He described lobbying as a “noble profession,” but said that he wouldn’t actually be doing any in his new capacity.

Fleishman-Hillard represents the AARP, the National Association of Broadcasters and the drug company Pfizer, according to Senate records.

Card said he spoke to Gingrich, Panetta and Sullivan before accepting the position, and that he looked forward to working with all three. He said Fleishman-Hillard reached out to him with the position.
