"You're lying about my record!"

That line didn't work for Bob Dole, and it won't work for our candidates either. All that they are accomplishing, besides dominating coverage, is making the election a referendum on themselves, personally, instead of a focus on American's needs and concerns. We need candidates who are able to pull away from the politics of self and spend their time talking about our problems and offering solutions. These squabbles are an insult to the time and effort their supporters gift them with. I can't imagine that most folks are supporting these candidacies because they promise to attack their Democratic rivals, defensively. We campaign for these candidates and elevate them so they can attack Bush and his republican enablers. The attack ads and other efforts to drag their Democratic rivals though the muck need to end. We desperately need to shift the focus of our attacks back to the real opposition.
