some who have watched the society over the last sixty years would say it a fair observation.

Closet racism is not limited to the republicans, or the south, it is alive and fomenting in liberal bastions as well.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard the words nigger and spic in liberal California.

The 'Bradley effect' is real, we do not live in a perfect world, people often disguise their racism, others don't even know their actions are driven by racism. The voting booth shelters view of individual racism. It might be sad, but it is true. To not believe veiled racism exists in the US, and that it is not a significant factor in politics to be over come, is pure naive fantasy.

You might consider these points some, before you use the blinding blanket of mis appropriated patriotism, to smother detractors of your personal views.
