I came to realize that a lot of people saw Kerry's mannerisms and affectations as arrogant, while GW Bush was the guy they'd feel comfortable having a beer with.

They had it 180 degrees wrong, in the arrogance and authenticity department... but here we are.


Personally, I worry that Obama may actually have a hint of unneeded arrogance, or maybe just a touch of spite for the person standing in his way of accomplishing what is so possible for him to accomplish. And worry, just a tiny bit, if this foretells Obamas style in dealing with other perceived or real enemies in the future?

But I don't worry too much, because frankly, I like smart, competent people, with or without a beer.

What I DO worry much about, is if too many of the electorate will see him the way they saw the smart, competent John Kerry.


I love ya Frenchie, but I think you took a wrong turn down Race lane here. I've been heartened to see that generally, Americans of all colors are proving willing vote for a bi-racial man with the middle name of Hussein.

But now that they've proved that, I don't think you can chalk up irritation at perceived arrogance as race based. Americans have also proved that they are sensitive to (hypersensitive, imo) perceived hoity toity-ness.
