You forget we are dealing with a superior breed here; persons with sensibilities and outlooks far superior to those of ordinary humans, and to whom the ordinary rules of human behavior cannot be applied. It is only ordinary folks who can be deterred by fear of consequences, or mobilized to fight by fear of what their enemies intend. These elevated creatures know only hope, which is by definition the imagining that what cannot reasonably be expected will come to pass even so. They are the political equivalent of lottery plungers....
