29. What Obama has said is...
Edited on Sun May-04-08 07:11 PM by casus belli
that her words do not match either previous positions she has held nor previous statements. If she refuses to say that she has changed her mind, or tries to imply that the positions aren't contrary, as she has in the NAFTA example, then I don't think asking someone to question whether she is being honest is out of line.

When someone continuously says one thing, which directly conflicts with previous statements without refuting the previous or explaining how their position has changed, I don't think it's unfair to question whether they are being truthful about their positions. If the positions she has taken were not related to policy, I would consider questions regarding her honesty out of line. The bottom line is: if it's policy related, I think it's fair game unless it is an obvious deliberate attempt to distort someone's position. I haven't seen any examples of that in Obama's campaign and I would certainly reject them if I had.
