that is so good that he was hiking up till he passed. My girl almost made 13, and while she couldn't do the really heavy stuff anymore, she was pretty darned active at a slightly lesser level, & wiggling like a pup and grinning every time I left the house, even if I was only gone 5 minutes, until that last bad week, so her passing here at home was a bit of a shock. Her GSP brother is still going strong, and even keeps up with the new rescue kid (a pointer with a motor) - at least for one of the daily walks:)

Portland was our "home base" and our biz took us here, there, everywhere for years - a bit of all work, not enough play, but we are catching up in our "retired" place here. We are enough outside of the Bend area that while the solitude maintains my balance, it isn't possible to discuss politics or religion locally - the net keeps me in touch with where I need to be on those subjects too.

Here's to a great spring/summer for both of us on opposite coasts, hiking and keeping in touch with the stuff that makes life special! Take care.
