51. Lanny does a nice job of rewriting history and gets away with it

Jimmy Carter did not lose to Ronald Reagan because "he couldn't speak to working class people". He lost to Reagan because Iran took our embassy workers hostage and Carter was the victim of fear mongering by the right wing. I believe it was Lee Atwater (Reagan's Karl Rove) who did a pretty good job of running a smear campaign to portray Carter as impotent because he couldn't get the hostages released. As well, Reagan's campaign was happy to mock the mission in which U.S. Marines gave their lives to rescue the hostages just so he could make Carter look weak. Sickening.

There was a lot of flag waving and jingoism surrounding that period and people voted on pseudo patriotism. Just like in 2004.

Of course, one of the reasons that Carter couldn't get the hostages release had to do with the whole Iran Contra affair and something about Bush Sr. working with the Iranians to keep them from releasing the hostages until after the election. But Lanny has conveniently forgotten all about that.

Davis is disingenuous to the hilt or he is just a moron. I give up on which it is.
