Tornado season. Crumbling infrastructure. War on two fronts. Torture. Gitmo. Overcrowded prisons. Violent crime. Homelessness. Poverty. Health care costs soaring. An aging population. A corrupted justice system.
You know why nothing ever seems to get done? Because we spend so much time obsessing about meaningless bullshit.
Let's get these other problems solved first and maybe we'll have time later to obsess over protocol. Maybe we can appoint Miss Manners to a cabinet position, but that's so far down the "to do" list, it beggars the imagination.
