at least as much as politics allows for stuff like that.

This tragic ending that you predict is because you assume differently. And in the end, we're both assuming because that's all we really have to go on. Which is the point of my OP. If we want to feel we have some control over the outcome of the next four years, we have to participate, instead of hanging back and either cheering our hero or boo-ing the villain.
