Yes, FDP leaders and legislaters are primarily DINOs. Rank and file is about 50/50, but progressives and liberals have little voice, and are effectively shut out of the party and process.

Most emphatically though, FDP and state Dem legislaters were not forced into this by the Republicans, they led the charge - ie: introduced the bill, and all but one voted for it, and made jokes about a "good faith" charade to fix the problem.

Several reasons:
1) They wanted to be "important" and "relevant".
2) They wanted to give an early boost to hillary, were willing to gamble our votes to do so.
3) Wanted to force a fight with the DNC (primarily Dean)- again willing to lose our (rank and file) votes to do so.

Since then, they have repeatedly lied and spun - blaming republicans, blaming Dean, blaming Obama. Not a one has admitted any blame themselves (which is where the blame lies)... last few months has been CYA mode. media has dutifully repeated the lies... it's sickening. Very few people know the true story, and are astonished when they're told how the State Party elites so carelessly and thoughtlessly gambled our votes away.
