8. Indeed the battle in US politics is between the Centre Right and the Far Right.
The issue has always been how the Republicans have been able to frame the centre right as "radical liberals". I said on my post on health, the GOP may try and portray the Democratic Party as "socialist" but it is far removed from being so. In comparison to political parties across the World, "Liberal" Democratic Senators are still seen as centre right, which places Conservative Democrats on the right and the GOP on the hard right.

That is why I strongly oppose the term "moderate democrat". The moderates are in fact those deemed "liberal".
