MN Family Council to push anti-gay marriage ammendment this session

Yep, with the economic downturn, huge budget deficits, the nutty Minnesota Family Council is pushing the anti-gay marriage amendment again. This is not only a waste of time but really divisive. Thank goodness we have a DFL Legislature as it is clearly not going to go anywhere and Gay Marriage does not have the boogyman stigma it had most of this decade. It is much more accepted by the younger generations. Minnesota will not follow Wisconsin and pass this. Within a decade or two gay marriage will probably be legal in Minnesota (and Wisconsin's amendment overturned). Different gender families have never been or never will be threatened by same-gender couples marrying (or adopting to create their own families).

In this economic downturn I wish the MFC would take these lobby funds to the local food banks rather than push for this abomination of an proposed amendment. :puke:

Despite three failed attempts in recent years, opponents of same-sex marriage are launching a new attempt to ban it by way of an amendment to the state constitution.

The amendment, which will be sponsored by several legislators, would give voters the opportunity to define marriage in Minnesota as between a man and a woman only.

The Minnesota Family Council, legislators and other community groups are scheduled to unveil their plans at a news conference at the Capitol this morning.

Three times earlier this decade, same-sex marriage opponents tried and failed to push a similar proposed amendment through the legislature. Those efforts died after reaching the legislative hearing stage.
