3. My pet peeve with stories that cover the Connally/Kerry discrepancy
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 07:17 PM by Straight Shooter
The challenge also claims unusual differences in votes for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and Connally, also a Democrat. However, judicial candidates in Ohio general elections appear on the ballot without party affiliation.

They always throw out that line, that candidates appear without party affiliation. Are they saying Ohio voters are terminally ignorant of who represents which party when they're talking about the highest court in the state? For some reason, I think most voters who voted for Connally knew the following:

1. She is a Democrat
2. She is a woman of color.

If people are willing for a black female Democrat to hold such a high office in Ohio, an office which is responsible for issuing decisions on serious matters, it stands to reason those same people would vote for John Kerry.
