most people that I know that say they are christians pick and choose the parts of the bible and their religion that work for them and their lives. It doesn't make sense to me because I've never seen any evidence that there was the availability to make these choices, I always get the message that it's an all inclusive package deal. For example I have a cousin who is Catholic, is a one issue voter but practices birth control. When I asked her how she can ignore the rule about birth control she said "when the church pays for raising my kids I'll follow their rule on birth control."
