But we're in Phoenix so I don't know how cold you're talking. It gets plenty chilly in the open desert on winter nights but rarely sub-freezing.

The peafowl have free reign of the yard and they are noisy. They caw like hell and like to run across roofs. If you (and your neighbors) can handle it they are very entertaining. The funniest sight for me was when I saw a peacock fanning his plumes and strutting around before two peahens who were entirely unimpressed. Seriously, it was like you could see the thought bubble saying "Yawn, whatever."
