I know alot of younger DUers proably wouldn't know Pete Seeger (I'm 27. . .I've listened to his music for years) or the work he's done to advance environmentalism, civil rights, the women's movement and every significant social cause since the 1940s.

Pete Seeger is a real American Treasure, and living about 50 miles from me on the western side of the Newburgh-Beacon bridge in Beacon, NY. He started a Hudson River revitalization project in the 1990s.

Pete Seeger cannot sing much anymore. His voice is almost totally gone. So, DUers, I just need to ask: What of his music do you feel was the most inspirational? And, what do you think Mr. Seeger would sing about in today's Bushland?

To me, it was the song San Francisco Bay, that I listened to on one of my grandmother's LPs when I was 6. I started asking my parents how people could allow the Bay to become a craphole? It was that song that started my environmentalism. I remember the day it happened (July 17th, 1985).

My family raised me on a higher order of thinking. . .I was trying to solve complex world problems in 2nd grade (well, I was in 2nd grade when I heard the song).

When Pete Seeger finally leaves us, the United States will lose one of the truest, most active members of the artist community over the past 50 years.

G-d Bless Pete Seeger. May he live to 100 and even more so.
