Someone was, say 18 years old, had sex with a 14 year old, and had to register as a sex offender for the rest of their life?
No force, no violence, and the parents of the minor do not want the adult in the situation to have a prison sentence, maybe counseling instead.
Are there NO exceptions for this?
Predators have no place in society, near children, but I just can't see the above situation as that of a predator. Someone who made a stupid mistake maybe, but not a predator.
I realize there is a fine line between offender and predator, but I would hope the punishment would fit the crime, which both of the above situations are.
