Truthout may have erred, but its record over time is a very good one. There is good solid information on the site every day, and if they made one big mistake I am not one to castigate them for it.

Dan Rather may have made a mistake too, but by dwelling on a small error the press, including many of those who should have known better missed the larger story, which was still solid enough with regard to Bush's National Guard record that it should have been important.

If we demand perfection from out leaders, we will soon have no leaders. Truthout remains a good website with solid information and insightful analysis almost all the time.

The right doesn't seem to hold their spokespersons to any standards at all, and they more idiots spouting hateful inanity than any sane person can credit. We don't need to, and can't go that far, but we still need to cut some of the people and institutions that have been doing outstanding work over time some slack.
