53. I remember seeing a show a few years back...
about research into human development. I was struck by the findings that teenagers don't really development a sense of bad consequences until the late teens. I could relate to that, as I had done some pretty stupid things as a teenager and looking back I realize how I was clueless about the possible bad results of my behavior. It wasn't until something stupid resulted and you do the slap to the head, "what was I thinking" reaction. And I've seen it enough times with my experience as an adult watching teenagers growing up. Luckily, nothing bad occurred because of my dumb actions, though I do recall throwing oranges out of a moving car one night.

So, I would like to apologize to HynoToad, Pithoui, et al for not having been killed then, as much as a "loser" deserves to. It would have saved me the time and effort of growing up into a responsible adult who volunteered to serve his country, pays my taxes, is a loving family member, performs volunteer work in the community, is generally law abiding, among other mature adult behaviors.
