MP3: I wrote another anti-war song today - Christmas Warzone

I've been inspired to write an anti-war Christmas song based on the situation in Iraq. It's based on a couple stories I've read about soldiers who have died and the situation they were involved in when the died. Unfortunately, it could be about an event yet to come this Christmas Day. Give it a listen if you feel so inclined.

MP3/4:41

Christmas Warzone

He lay dying from wounds from a roadside bomb blast just outside of Baghdad
Meanwhile, it was Christmas Day, and so far away his daughter was tearfully glad
He was to come home, it was February, then they changed it to June
He'd be back in one piece with a righteous smile traveling back with his platoon

He had been helping rebuild an oil refinery and there had been many "near-misses"
He didn't believe it when Rumsfeld said that they would be greeted with roses and kisses
He couldn't understand why his President lied and he was sent to this illegal, crazy war
He had seen his buddies get their brains blown up and he asked what they were fighting for

Chorus

He's a broken pawn soon to be carried off and hidden from the eyes of the World
His family and loved one would get the bad news that his blood had been courageously spilled
For the war profiteers and the chickenhawks and those that don't have a real clue
We won't hear his last desperate cries about those who lied and made him think it was the right thing to do

CHORUS
Now he lays there dying and crying and bleeding on a dusty road on Christmas Day
He screamed for his buddies to see if they were alive and he could tell they were not OK
The sun and the clouds above him were now beginning to form into a dark storm
On this Christmas Day it seemed so far away from his home so peaceful and warm
