4. Since going after al-Sadr might weaken
anti-Iranian forces in Iraq -- and strengthen pro-Iranian forces (relatively, anyway) -- attacking al-Sadr might make action against Iran (Syria) all the more likely (to "counteract" Iranian gains).

(I don't claim to know how nationalist al-Sadr is.)

And does anyone really believe that we're going to go after all militia forces in Iraq (like the Kurdish militias); particularly as this might have to include Iraqi "security forces".

Letting this nonsense go forward spells the end of even any pretense of representative democracy (here).
