Dear Mr. Phyrillas,
I am a regular on Democratic Underground but don't always read "The Top 10 Conservative Idiots" every week. Therefore I was unaware until a few minutes ago that you had been chosen for that honor. However, I can't resist commenting on a few points you brought up in your essay congratulating yourself on being among the chosen.

The first point is your claim that you exposed the Democratic Party's "hidden agenda" to impeach your so-called president. DU got a big collective laugh out of that one, because it's hardly a "hidden" agenda! We progressives (the people you call "far left" although most of us are actually center-left) want to impeach Bush so badly we can taste it! However, that just isn't possible until after the new Democratic Congress begins in January 2007.

But the funniest part of your essay is where you said: "...these kind of threats will rally Bush's base, which will turn out in November to make sure the House and Senate stay in GOP control."

OOOOOHHHH, Bush's formidable base! I am just SOOOO scared I'm shaking in my shoes! Bush's "base" is how big exactly? And growing by leaps and bounds, isn't it? The major polls seem to be running consistently at 33-37% approval, and I believe they are still padded. I suspect his true approval rating is about 30% or even lower. Well, the Republicans must have some secret plan to magically increase its size and/or fire it with enthusiam between now and November. About the only secret weapons that could possibly work for you are Diebold, Sequoia and ES&S. I will grant that they served you well in the past, but they are only reliable in close elections. If it looks like a Democratic landslide you're safer depending on popular support, which obviously would not exist.

So you can threaten us with "rallying your base" all you want, but it's an open secret now that you have very little base left to rally. Clearly DU showed its usual good judgment in naming you one of the "Top 10 Conservative Idiots." Congratulations, and I hope you move even further up the list in the future.
