One of the biggest perpetrators of the health care industry scam is the AMA. It was the AMA who paid off Congress to make sure that new hospitals can't be built without tons of permits and regulations and they have also made sure that only their state approved buddies can be doctor's in the first place. Setting up tons and tons of regulation in favor of limiting the number of doctors per area in the U.S. is by far the best way to keep salaries well into the 6 figures for doctors and insure that 1000's of people in the U.S. either fork over big bucks or go without health care. How can you explain why you need insurance or government subsidies to afford health care. Why can't someone just goto a doctor and pay cash? Simple, no one can afford to pay cash, thats why. Prime example, we have a person I work with and she cut her hand at work, nothing too serious, small cut. She went to the doctor down the road, and in 15 minutes he stitched it, one lousy stitch, and then charged workers comp $400 for the job. The government had to pick up the tab because she cannot afford the bill. Now if that isn't blatant greed on the part of the doctor, then tell what is? Anybody else could have done it for less than a $100 but he is the only doctor in the area. All the laws and regulations surrounding doctors were bought and paid for by the AMA. This is without a doubt one of the biggest obstacles facing socialized health care in this country. Doctor's will simply go private just like in Great Britain because they actually believe that they are so far above reproach that they would not ever work for less than 6 figures. Greed knows no limit with these assholes, and people are dieing because of it!
