Imagine a state full of ignorant people who need public services to be done. Corporations would do the Snoopy dance, bribe the republican heads of state and set up a price-gouging monopoly.

And what could the citizens do, to avoid being plundered? Nothing.
They would have to concede that their and their leader's decision was wrong. But that means that they would have to consider going back to that pool of vice and socialism the US supposedly has turned into.

What is a better solution than conceding that your secession was wrong? IT'S SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULT!
Blame it on those "foreigners" from the US, on defectors and minorities. Et voilà, you get a nice patriotic witchhunt.





In the end you have a poor, corporate-run country, which relies on propaganda and "blaming-somebody-else" for political survival.

What for the next hurricane or tornado to strike and you will hear rightwingers throw in arguments how the US must help those patriotic traitors.
