I think this talking point needs to be killed right now, as much as we would like to believe that BP is going to pay the entire cost of the cleanup they will not. We will be lucky if they pay even 5% of the total cost of cleanup, and even then there will still be crude oil on the beaches. The fact is that a disaster of this magnitude is going to cost far more than even a huge multinational corporation like BP could ever afford to pay, even if they spent every last penny they have it would not even come close to covering the expenses of this cleanup and you can guarantee that the politicians who have been taking oil industry money are not going to do everything they can to ensure they get a bailout. Right now they are telling us that BP will pay the whole thing to make us complacent, then when the story is off the front pages they will quietly announce that we are being stuck with the bill. Make no mistake about it, the American people are once again going to be screwed and we can not allow them to try to help the big oil PR effort by trying to fool us into believing otherwise.
