We'll hear it again. Yet what are we prepared to do about it? Some of us use energy very little, if at all. Others use much more. What are we prepared to do to save energy? If we were ordered to reduce our energy use by say 1/3, what impact would that be. Are you prepared to turn your heat off for 8 hours? How about your refrigerator? Take that as far as you want to think about it.

I'm as guilty as anyone regarding my use of vehicles. In fact, since I use a RV I may fall in to a higher use category. As the price of fuel goes up, my use of fuel reduces. That leads me to believe there is a way to reduce our energy consumption and in part, the deficit spending problem. Have the government put a $4.00 a gallon surtax on gasoline and diesel fuel. Ouch, yes that would hurt. Talk about reduction in use, I'll bet. Force us to re-examine how and why we use fuel. Make me think about buying more fuel efficient vehicles, yup.

Now what would the government use all that new found money for. My thoughts are to pay off the national debt. Knowing politicians of both sides of the isles that won't fly long. Some would want a national heath care. I'd rather see free college for all US citizens who desire it.

Oh well, who knows, it will never happen. Too many sacred cows, corporations would be hurt so it won't happen unless the bottom falls out.
